Arrival day
Everything for the day you fly in, in order. Save or screenshot this page before you leave in case you don’t have signal.
Before you fly
- Check in online 24 hours before your flight.
- Save the boarding pass QR code to your phone: download it to your photos so it works without signal.
- Keep your ID (driver’s licence or passport) somewhere easy to reach.
At the Winnipeg airport
- Go to security at the far end of the airport. Someone will scan your boarding pass QR code at the start of the line.
- Follow the line between the posts until you reach the scanners.
- Put your things in the bins:
- electronics in one bin
- your jacket in another
- your bag in another
- anything metal (coins, belt, buckles) in a bin too
- Slide the bins along to the scanner. They’ll want to see your boarding pass and ID.
- Step through the scanner when someone tells you to, then collect your things.
- Your boarding pass shows your gate number (e.g. A5). Go to the seats near that gate and wait.
- When they call your boarding group, line up. They’ll scan your boarding pass and check your ID.
On the plane
Find your seat and think about cats. 🐈
Vancouver is 2 hours behind Winnipeg, so the clocks will be earlier when you land.
At YVR (Vancouver airport)
Your flight arrives at the Domestic Terminal.
- Follow the signs for Baggage / Arrivals and collect your bag at the carousel listed for your flight.
- Walk out of the baggage area into the public greeting area (Level 2).
Now it depends on whether we’re meeting you:
If we’re meeting you
We’ll be waiting right where you come out of baggage claim.
Important
If you don’t see us, stay put. Don’t go looking for us. Go to the meeting spot below, sit down, and text us. We’ll find you.
Meeting spot: to be confirmed.
We’ll take the SkyTrain home together. It’s about 75–90 minutes to King George station, then a 2-minute walk.
If you’re travelling on your own
You’ll take the SkyTrain: the Canada Line into Vancouver, then the Expo Line out to Surrey. Plan for about 75–90 minutes.
Find the station. From the greeting area, go up to Level 3 and walk toward the International Terminal. Between the two terminals is the Link Building. Follow the “Canada Line” signs up to Level 4, then along the covered walkway to YVR–Airport station.
Pay. Tap a credit card or phone at the fare gate. Use the same card or phone for the whole trip. Trips that start at the airport include an extra $5 YVR AddFare; that’s normal.
Ride the Canada Line to Waterfront. It’s the end of the line, so you can’t miss it (about 25 minutes).
Change to the Expo Line. At Waterfront, follow the signs for the Expo Line. If you pass through fare gates, tap the same card again; changing trains within 90 minutes doesn’t cost extra.
Board a train going to King George.
Warning
The Expo Line splits into two branches. Check that the sign on the platform or the front of the train says King George, not Production Way–University. If you get on the wrong one, get off and ask a SkyTrain attendant, or text us.
Ride to the end of the line: King George station (about 40 minutes).
Tap out with the same card or phone at the fare gates.
Walk to our building, about 2 minutes.
Text us when you’re on the Expo Line and we’ll meet you at the station or at the door.
Note
Taxi or Uber/Lyft instead? Follow the signs for ground transportation. It takes about 35–45 minutes to our place, depending on traffic.
