Time zone

Vancouver is on Pacific Time, 2 hours behind Winnipeg.

Weather and packing

• October to April: mild but rainy. Bring a rain jacket and shoes that can get wet. It rarely snows in Surrey.
• Summer: warm and mostly dry. Bring a layer for evenings and the beach.

Groceries and pharmacies

Health

• Emergency: call 911.
• Not sure whether you need a doctor? Call 811 (HealthLink BC) to talk to a nurse, any time.
• Hospital: Surrey Memorial Hospital is close to us in City Centre.
